GE Renewable Energy subsidiary LM Wind Power is planning to recruit 300 additional employees at its blade manufacturing factory in Bergama, Turkey.
LM Wind Power said the expansion will allow it to respond to the growing global demand for wind power by exporting blades to markets worldwide, including in Europe and Asia.
The Bergama facility (pictured), which was inaugurated in July 2017, currently employs about 450 people and is one of 15 factories owned by LM Wind Power.
“The positions are open to all profiles and backgrounds, as every new employee will be trained to manufacture wind turbine blades through LM Wind Power’s ‘Center of Excellence’ training programme,” the company said.
Each new employee will receive a six-week theoretical and practical training course, while the newcomers will also be mentored by experts from LM Wind Power sites worldwide.
Construction has also started on a new building, which will expand the factory’s production capabilities, primarily in blade post-molding.
The work is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2019
LM Wind Power head of European operations Jesper Sorensen said: “The Bergama factory is a critical site for our company’s aspiration to power the world with more renewable energy, and it represents our strong commitment to Turkey.
“We are thrilled to contribute to creating skilled, technical jobs in the region.”
Bergama plant director Ozan Mamay said: “A significant part of the employees at our site today are from the city of Bergama.
“We are proud to take part in the city’s social and economic development, and we are happy to create even more jobs in the surrounding community this year.”
