PNE Group has sold its interest in the up to 300MW Burleigh wind project in the US state of North Dakota to NextEra Energy Resources subsidiary Burke Wind.
The site, based near Bismarck, holds 24 land leases for over 6070 hectares with private landholders in Burleigh and Emmons Counties.
Burleigh also holds an interconnection queue position with the Midcontinent Independent System Operator for 298MW.
PNE chief executive Markus Lesser said: “I am happy about the successful sale in USA. This shows again, that the internationalisation of our business works and is bearing fruit. We are well positioned for further projects in wind and solar in the US.”
PNE USA previously sold its 79.9MW Vivaldi/Stillwater wind project in Montana to Pattern Development, which entered commercial operation in 2018 under a power purchase agreement with Northwestern Energy.
In March 2019 the North Dakota Public Service Commission held a public hearing regarding a proposal by Burke Wind to build a wind farm in Burke County plus associated electric transmission line in Burke and Mountrail Counties.
The wind farm will have a capacity of approximately 200MW and will consist of up to 76 wind turbines. The total cost of the wind project and the transmission line is estimated at $289 million.
