Spanish outfit Haizea Wind Group has confirmed a contract to fabricate 10 monopile foundations for the Renexia-led 30MW Taranto offshore wind farm off the coast of south-east Italy.
The deal as first reported in the subscriber-only newsletter reNEWS in February.
Delivery is scheduled for August, with the structures to be built at Haizea’s factory in Bilbao, Spain.
The monopiles will each be 55 metres long, have a five metre diameter and weigh about 400 tonnes, Haizea said.
It added that the foundations will also incorporate the transition pieces to facilitate assembly.
Taranto, off the coast of the Plugia region, will be the first offshore wind farm in the Mediterranean Sea when it comes online in 2020.
It will feature Senvion hardware and will generate 58,200 megawatt-hours a year of electricity.
