Finland has awarded support to seven onshore wind projects in a technology-neutral auction.
The Finland Energy Authority received 26 bids, all of them for onshore wind, but rejected 19. The average bid price was €2.49 per megawatt-hour.
The combined annual production of the seven accepted projects was 1.36 terrwatt-hours (TWh), in line with the auction’s target of 1.4 TWh.
Winners included CPC of Germany’s 120MW Lakiakangas 3 project and local outfit Fortum’s 90MW Kalax project.
The other developers with successful bids were Kestilan Kokkoneva Tuulivoima, Puhuri, Tuuliwatti and Tuulipuisto.
ABO Wind and Infinergies Finland are developing the Kokkoneva project, which will feature seven turbines located in the Northern Ostrobothnia region.
The lowest accepted bid was €1.27/MWh and the highest €3.97/MWh.
Support would be paid for 12 years, beginning no later than three years from the date on which an approval decision was given.
