Seajacks is set to replace a turbine blade at Vattenfall’s Aberdeen Bay offshore wind farm off Scotland after the component was damaged.
Jack-up vessel Scylla is sailing towards the 92.4MW project to switch out the 80 metre-long component at one of the project’s 11 MHI Vestas 8MW turbines.
The affected turbine has been out of action since February.
Wind farm site manager Kevin Jones said: “Our regular monitoring of components has identified damage to one of the blades on one of the wind turbines in the array.
“The cause of the damage will be investigated by manufacturer MHI Vestas Offshore Wind.”
Danish jack-up operator Swire Blue Ocean installed the turbines at the project last spring.
“The rest of the wind farm is operating normally,” Jones added.
The blade switch is set to get underway later today providing weather conditions are favourable.
