North Carolina governor Roy Cooper has included funding in his 2019-2021 budget for a study looking at the potential for offshore wind off the coast of the US state.
Some $300,000 will be used to carry out analysis of ports to ascertain the potential for hosting offshore wind activities, such as manufacturing, component assembly and operations and maintenance.

Supply chain analysis will also identify strategic opportunities to leverage the state’s businesses and workforce in the offshore wind sector.
Other money in the budget will also support university energy centres in providing technical assistance on the use of clean power and enabling technologies.
