Canadian renewables developer Boralex added almost 500MW of new generating capacity in 2018, a new 12-month record for the company.
The haul of new operational projects means the company is on track to hit 2GW of online assets by the end of 2019, a year earlier than initially planned, said chief executive Patrick Lemaire (pictured).
The company said it is ready to build at least 126MW of capacity to hit that target in 2019.
Boralex has a portfolio of 1GW in France and 300MW in Scotland.
Figures were released as part of annual results for the company that show EBITDA of C$298m, up 8% on 2017, and revenues of C$471m, up 14%.
Lemaire said the company has updated its long-term strategy and will unveil new targets shortly.
“While it’s true wind conditions fell shy of expectations in 2018, the experts believe those shortfalls to be within historical variances, not to mention that they narrowed in the last few months of the year,” he added.
“As a result, we’re confident our French wind farm network will continue to strengthen the Corporation’s financial performance in the medium and long term, especially given the constant growth in development opportunities and our expertise in the area.”
