Siemens Gamesa has secured the first order in China for its 3.X platform for a 21MW wind farm in Holingol in Inner Mongolia.
The order is for six units of the SG 3.4-132 model with a flexible power rating of 3.65MW.
State Power Investment Corporate (SPIC) is developing the wind farm, which will be commissioned in August 2019.
Siemens Gamesa will also be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the turbines for five years, with a six to 20 years warranty for major components.
The project, located in Tongliao city, will generate electricity to provide power for one of SPIC’s electrolytic aluminium plants.
The demonstration project aims to maximise the use of local resources, including wind, coal, water and heating.
Data will be gathered in the wind farm’s performance for SPIC’s planned 6GW wind power base that has been approved in Inner Mongolia.
This order forms part of the order intake disclosed by Siemens Gamesa in its first quarter 2019 results.
