Lithuanian state-owned energy company Lietuvos Energija is seeking a partner to develop offshore wind farms.
The company has issued an expressions of interest process to select what it calls an “experienced partner” to develop projects in the European Economic Area (EEA).
A decision on the partner will be made by the end of the year, Lietuvos Energija said.
It added that the potential partnership will be implemented in two stages.
The first phase will see Lietuvos Energija gain relevant offshore wind expertise by acquiring a minority stake in a project within the EEA.
This is already in the late stage of development, the company said.
Phase two would involve the development of projects in the Baltic Sea.
Lietuvos Energija director of infrastructure and development Dominykas Tuckus said: “In the upcoming 12 years, we plan to install up to 3000MW, the majority of which will come from wind energy.
“In order to realise our ambitions, we look for an experienced partner with a proven track record who would bring best-practises and expertise in building offshore wind projects.
“Later on, we expect to develop joint offshore wind energy projects in Lithuania as well.”
