UK company Good Energy is to partner with Belectric and Powerstar on the design, installation, operation and maintenance of commercial battery storage projects.

Good Energy said it is in discussions with a number of its existing and prospective business customers with regards to how battery storage can help them.

“Having Belectric and Powerstar on board allows for the progression of these, and alongside Good Energy’s developing self-generation, electric vehicle and smart propositions, it marks a significant step towards solutions for domestic customers, too,” the company said.

Good Energy sales and commercial director Randall Bowen said: “Storage is one of the key enablers in the move from supplying to sharing energy. Not only does it help resolve the issue of variability in renewable power – a benefit to the grid – it benefits customers practically too.

“Its attraction to businesses is in the control and independence batteries can offer, allowing them to store, share and use clean power at times when it is not only cleaner, but more cost effective.

“Having the right partners in place to deliver this for our customers is a really important step in realising Good Energy’s strategic vision.”

Belectric UK managing director Amit Oza said: “Battery storage technologies are the link between modern grids and intermittent power generation from renewables.

“We expect that these systems will deliver significant value to corporate customers, especially in conjunction with Good Energy’s electricity supply contracts

“We are quite proud of the flexibility in terms of technology and software solutions we can offer to this partnership.

“We always design our battery storage systems to the respective applications and usage requirements of the project and we are looking forward to delivering this expertise to Good Energy’s project portfolio.”

Powerstar chief executive and founder Alex Mardapittas said: “We are incredibly proud to be one of the first few chosen suppliers selected to be a part of Good Energy’s business battery storage framework.

“Securing a place on this framework displays the level of quality we uphold for our solutions and highlights our focus of sustainability as a business.

“It is a positive step towards the wider adoption of energy storage technologies to maximise renewable energy in the UK as renewable generation continues to become a larger part of the energy mix.

“We look forward to working with Good Energy to provide a sustainable, and more resilient, future for the UK’s commercial sector.”
