A French court will hear a final appeal on Wednesday against the concession for EDF’s 480MW Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm off the country’s Atlantic coast.
The State Council, the country’s highest court, will hear from opponents, representatives of the developer and the District Attorney’s arguments over the project concession.
A final decision will be issued by the court a number of weeks after the hearing.
If cleared, the project could reach financial close within a few months, it is understood.
Fabrication of major components could start later this year with offshore construction works kicking off in late 2020.
Commissioning is planned for 2022 or 2023.
EDF is developing the project in the EMF consortium alongside Enbridge.
Saint-Nazaire, which will feature GE 6MW turbines, will be located up to 20km off the Atlantic coast with water depths reaching up to 25 metres.
