India’s government has released draft rules for leasing offshore wind projects off the coast of the Asian country.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy said the draft is open for comments until 25 February.

Leases will be available for five years to carry out prospecting and 30 years to establish a project.
The lease areas will between 100 and 500 square kilometres in size up to 200 nautical miles off the coast of India, according to the draft document.
Awards will be made through international competitive bidding only.
The ministry added that the draft only designed to provide a basic framework for the development of offshore wind in India.
