Rhenus Offshore Logistics is to provide supply services to TenneT’s 900MW BorWin Gamma transformer platform in the German North Sea.
The Eurus Express vessel will carry out the supply runs from the port of Emden in Germany.
Rhenus said the work includes coordinating all the logistics, storage, loading and unloading, securing offshore containers, handling customs activities and completing the IMO declaration.
Supplies will go to the employees living and working on the platform, including tools, building materials, food, water and other items required for daily work.
Rhenus will also ship any waste away from BorWin Gamma, in collaboration with affiliated company Remondis.
Rhenus Offshore Logistics project manager for BorWin Gamma Jennifer Adami said: “We’ll be operating our own container depot with DNV 2.7-certified offshore containers at our offshore supply base at Emden.
“As a result, we’ll be able to respond to the demands of the project spontaneously and save the customer mobilisation and demobilisation costs for the equipment.”
BorWin Gamma was installed off the island of Borkum in October and will transform electricity generated by wind farms into direct current in order to supply German households later this year.
