France has confirmed a draft energy plan that would see renewables capacity more than double to as much as 113GW by 2028, compared with under 49GW in 2017.
The draft plans are now open for consultation and envisage 74GW of clean power installed by 2023 and between 102GW and 113GW by 2028.

Offshore wind capacity would grow to between 4.7GW and 5.2GW by 2028, with 2.4GW installed by 2023.
Onshore is set to reach as much as 35.6GW by 2028, with 24.6GW installed by 2023.
Solar capacity would jump to between 35.6GW and 44.5GW by 2028, with 20.6GW installed by 2023.
A final version is expected in the summer.
