Two wind power industry bodies in Denmark have started discussions about a possible merger.
The Danish Wind Turbine Owners’Association and the Danish Wind Industry Association said the aim of the discussions is to “further strengthen the voice” of the wind industry by “establishing a natural gathering point for everyone with an interest in promoting wind energy”.
If the merger goes ahead, the over 2900 members of the turbine owners association would join forces with the more than 200 members of the industry group.
Danish Wind Turbine Owners’Association chairman Kristian Jakobsen said: “A merger will benefit the members of both current associations.
“It will give the wind issue a stronger voice that is rooted in a broad popular and industrial foundation, which is based on 40 years of history and experience.”
Danish Wind Industry Association chairman Mads-Ole Astrupgaard said: “With closer cooperation, actors who work with wind energy will get a sectoral community that can even better work to ensure that wind energy is the backbone of Denmark’s and the world’s green transition.”
The merger could be approved as early as March this year, the associations said.
