The great and good of the Irish wind industry will gather in Dublin on Friday night for the sector’s first annual award ceremony.
Nominees in 12 categories will be up for a range of gongs at the event, which is being organised by industry group the Irish Wind Energy Association.
Among the awards up for grabs is the best community project, which features the Ballycadden, Galway (pictured) and Mount Lucas wind farms as the nominees.
There is also a prize for health and safety performance with manufacturers Senvion and Siemens Gamesa as well as construction outfit Roadbridge vying for the win.
Green Party leader Eamon Ryan is nominated alongside Bord na Mona’s Catherine Swaine for the champion of renewables award, while Peter McArdle of Grant Thornton is among those in for the outstanding contribution gong.
IWEA will also select a person of the year at the event.
“The awards will showcase the very best the Irish wind industry has to offer and honour the individuals, organisations and companies who are demonstrating excellence in their chosen fields and shaping the future of renewable energy in Ireland,” said IWEA.
The sold-out black-tie soiree is taking place in Clontarf Castle where broadcaster Ivan Yates will MC proceedings.
