EDF Renewables North America has commissioned the Copenhagen Wind project in the US east coast state of New York.
The 80MW Copenhagen Wind will supply electricity to National Grid subsidiary Narragansett Electric Company, under a 15-year power purchase agreement.
Vestas supplied the 40 turbines for the wind farm located in the Lewis and Jefferson counties, upstate.
EDF Renewables will operate and manage the plant.
The energy company’s operations control centre in San Diego, California will provide round-the-clock remote monitoring and diagnostics to boost equipment availability and cut downtime.
The project supported around 200 jobs during construction and invested $15 million in supplies, equipment, utilities and fuel sourced from local businesses.
Copenhagen Wind will provide $700,000 in property taxes annually, to be paid locally, and has also entered a $430,000 Host Community Agreement with the Town of Denmark.
A further $60,000 will be paid from the wind farm under a Cultural Mitigation Agreement.
