Allete Clean Energy is to refurbish the 50MW Condon wind farm in Oregon.
The work will extend the operating life of the project and its availability, as well as requalify the site for federal production tax credits.
It will include equipment and system upgrades and be completed next year.
Allete added that the project will also be positioned for recontracting when the existing power sales agreement with Bonneville Power Administration expires in late 2022.
“This investment ensures the Condon facility will continue to deliver its sustainable energy supply and add value to the Condon community well into the future,” the company said.
Allete Clean Energy chief financial officer Laura Schauer said: “We are pleased to advance our fleet-wide optimisation strategy with the refurbishment initiative at Condon.
“The project will position the site well for future power sales, extend the project’s operating life, sustain operating performance and produce income growth.”
