Dutch outfit Roll Group has developed a detachable base frame for the transport of transition pieces at marshalling ports using a self-propelled modular transporter.
The system works without the need of a heavy crawler crane and has been developed in collaboration with manufacturers and ports, the company said.

Roll Group said the first frame is designed for TPs with a maximum weight of 600 tonnes.
The frame comprises adjustable suspended girders that can be set to the desired dimensions of the TP, the company said.
The detachable frame allows the SPMT to be used on other activities, it added.
A lighter version – up to 350 tonnes – is currently in development, Roll Group said.
