HSH Nordbank and Cooperatieve Rabobank provided project finance for Aquila Capital’s almost 148MW Thor wind farm in Sweden.
OX2 built the 147.6MW project, which is located 75km east of the town of Gällivare, while Google is buying electricity produced under a long-term offtake agreement.
Law firm Watson Farley & Williams Hamburg banking and finance team advised the lenders on the financing deal.
The team was led by partner Thomas Hollenhorst, supported by managing associate Marcus Mutzelburg, senior associate Paul-Vincent Hahn and associate Roman Schneider.
WFW’s Swedish correspondent law firm Vinge provided support on the domestic law aspects of the transaction.
Hollenhorst said: “We are delighted to have advised our long-standing client HSH Nordbank on one of its first wind farm transactions in Sweden.
“This demonstrates WFW’s standing as one of the leading law firms for cross-border projects in the renewable energy sector in Europe, including Scandinavia.”
