Spanish developer X-Elio has completed the 74MW Guanajuato solar farm in Mexico, its first photovoltaic project in the Latin American country.
The $71m project created 868 direct and indirect jobs during construction by Grupo Avanzia and 30 full-time positions covering operations and maintenance.
X-Elio said it is developing a 600MW portfolio in Mexico.
X-Elio chief executive Jorge Barredo said: “The beginning of operations in the Guanajuato plant entails a significant advancement for our development plans in Mexico, a country where we will continue to grow in the next few years.
“With this project we are meeting our global growth and internationalisation plans worldwide and we are demonstrating efficiency putting into operation photovoltaic solar projects.”
