GE Renewable Energy has secured a turnkey contract from YPF Luz for the 122MW Los Teros wind farm in Argentina.
Los Teros, which will feature 32 GE machines with individual capacities of 3.83MW, is located at Azul in the province of Buenos Aires across an area of 2450 hectares.
Construction of the $144m project will start this month and employ around 150 people.
The contract also covers construction of a substation to connect the 132kV line between Tandil and Olavarría.
Electricity generated by Los Teros will be supplied to Toyota and Coca-Cola FEMSA, under agreements with YPF Luz.
GE onshore wind business in the Americas general manager Vikas Anand said: “We are excited to be partnering with YPF Luz to help them achieve their renewable energy goals. This project also reinforces GE’s commitment to invest and grow in Argentina.”
