UK consultancy Natural Power has appointed Gordon Booth as heavy lift operations supervisor, to further boost the company’s servicing expertise in major components.
Based in the Natural Power’s Stirling office in Scotland, Booth joins from GE Renewables where he was a technical lead and authorised technician/engineer.
At Natural Power, he will be responsible for managing all major component exchange programmes, all associated health and safety considerations and liaison with on-site teams and heavy lift contractors to ensure the smooth running of operations in this area.
Natural Power head of sites operations Stuart Egan said: “As demand for our servicing team continues to grow, the careful planning and management of logistics in the area of major component exchanges demands a dedicated role.”
Booth’s technical engineering background includes experience of working both onshore and offshore.
Egan added: “The replacement of the large, complex and expensive, critical parts such as gearboxes, blade bearings and generators hundreds of feet in the air on wind turbines requires careful attention to detail, and so Gordon, who is an experienced technical engineer and proven problem solver, is an exciting and very welcome addition to the team.”
The new heavy-lift major component exchange service complements the firm’s existing competence to provide independent servicing for clients. Work for clients includes service and repair, reactive maintenance and reliability servicing.
