German grid regulator BNetzA has awarded 363MW of onshore wind capacity in the country’s latest auction, substantially below the 670MW that was on offer.
The 57 winning bidders paid an average price of €62.60 per megawatt-hour, up from €61.16/MWh in the August sale, €57.30/MWh in May and €47.30/MWh in February. The successful bids ranged from €50/MWh to €63/MWh.
Winners included ABO Wind, Denker & Wulf, EAM Natur, Enercon, Energiequelle, Juwi, WEAG and Windwarts Energie. Nine bids submitted by community projects were successful.
BNetzA head Jochen Homann said: “Despite a sufficient volume of construction licenses the auction was considerably undersubscribed.”
Ten projects totalling 69MW are located in Bavaria, followed by nine in Brandenburg with a combined capacity of 63MW and Lower Saxony with six totalling 42MW.
