Orsted has contracted Formosa Heavy Industries to supply jacket foundation pin piles for the first 900MW of the Changhua offshore wind farm complex off Taiwan.
The contract, which is worth about NT$2bn (€65m)of , will cover the supply three pin piles for each foundation by a March 2021 deadline.

Each pile, which will be mainly composed of steel plates, will be 90 metres long, have a four-metre diameter and weigh over 400 tonnes, Orsted said.
Orsted general manager for Asia Pacific Matthias Bausenwein said: “Formosa Heavy Industries has rich experience in mechanical manufacturing and expertise in dealing with complex steel plate structures.”
