Nordex Group will supply turbines totalling 115MW to Vattenfall subsidiary Nuon to extend the Wieringermeer wind farm in the Netherlands to 300MW.
The order is for delivery and installation of 32 N117/3600 machines, building on the 50 units of the same model secured last year for the first phase of the project.
Nordex will also service the 32 turbines for two year as part of the deal.
Installation will take place after completion of the first 50-turbine phase, which is scheduled for completion next year.
Electricity from Wieringermeer, which is located in the north of the country, will supply Microsoft’s data centre at Middenmeer north of Amsterdam for 10 years.
Nordex chief sales officer Patxi Landa said: “All in all, we are now installing almost 300MW for Vattenfall. The new contract is a very important sign that highlights the mutual confidence which has grown between the Vattenfall and Nordex teams over the last few months.”
Vattenfall head of wind Gunnar Groebler said: “We are pleased to further expand the partnership with Nordex. The contract shows once again that the development of wind power takes on a European dimension – equally for the benefit of the North Holland region, where the project is realized, as well as for the region of Hamburg and Northern Germany, where value creation and thus jobs are secured.”
