Danish company Vestas is to deliver optimised V136 turbines to the 202MW Whitla wind farm in Alberta, Canada.
The manufacturer signed a deal with Capital Power to deliver 3.6MW hardware to the the auction-winning project.
Deliveries are due to kick off in the second quarter of next year with commissioning due before end-2019.
The deal includes a 10-year service package.
“We have worked with Vestas for more than a decade and look forward to embarking on another successful wind project together,” said Capital Power. “We are confident that Whitla will deliver strong performance and support bringing clean energy to Albertans.”
Vestas said: “”We are pleased that Vestas’s 4MW platform was able to help Capital Power achieve the record-breaking low wind costs in this auction.”
Whitla was one of four projects to secure capacity in Alberta’s initial renewable energy auction in 2017.
The province has set a long-term goal of installing 5000MW of renewables by 2030.
