Siemens Gamesa has contracted Windhoist to carry out onshore turbine pre-assembly work for Orsted’s 1200MW Hornsea 1 offshore wind farm off the east coast of England.
Work for the contract, first reported in the subscriber-only newsletter reNEWS, will start later this month and last almost one year.
It will employ about 100 people providing pre-construction support work for 174 Siemens Gamesa 7.0-154 machines.
Windhoist managing director Hugh McNally said: “We are delighted to further strengthen our relationship with SGRE and look forward to working on this flagship project.
“At Windhoist, we aspire to be the wind turbine construction partner of choice therefore we push ourselves to learn and continually improve; we are very happy that we will continue to do this in partnership with a global multinational of SGRE’s standing.”
