ABO Wind has won a service contract from Cologne outfit Rhein Energie for four wind farms in Germany totalling 12MW.
All four projects feature two 1.5MW Fuhrlander MD70/77 turbines each that came online in 2009 and 2010.
The 11-year contract covers turbines, blades, foundations and a substation.
Rhein Energie executive Jan Stertkamp said: “We were looking for a service provider that knows the turbines right down to the last detail and that will be in charge of service during the entire remaining EEG feed-in tariff period. With ABO Wind, we now enjoy long-term cost and planning security.”
Earlier this year, ABO Wind hired 12 former technicians from FWT Service and took over a portfolio of 60 turbines covered by the latter company.
FWT Service was part of former German wind turbine manufacturer Fuhrlander, which stopped making machines in 2013 after becoming insolvent. FWT Service also filed for insolvency last year.
