Senvion is to supply turbines totalling 80MW to Heritage Sustainable Energy’s Garden 2 wind farm in Michigan.
The order covers 20 4.0M140 machines and a 21-year service contract.
Senvion said the first 20MW of the deal is firm, with the remaining 60MW conditional.
The first phase of the project in Delta county will be installed at the start of next year, with the second stage planned for 2020.
Senvion North America chief executive Lance Marram said: “We are excited to continue working with such a respected partner as Heritage. With this project, we will support Michigan’s ambition to reach their renewable energy goal.
“Garden 2 is further proof that wind energy is competitive and cost-effective even in medium-wind regions.”
Heritage Sustainable Energy founder and chief executive Marty Lagina said: “We are very confident that these next generation ‘state of the art’ Senvion turbines will generate considerably more electricity at reduced cost, a great benefit for the environment and the people of the state of Michigan.”
