The UK offshore wind sector helped boost James Fisher and Sons revenue and operating profit from its marine support division by 21% each in the first half of 2018, compared with the same period last year.
Revenue was £127.2m in the first six months of this year, up from £105.6m last year, while underlying operating profit grew to £10.8m from £8.9m in 2017.
James Fisher said it has started work, including the clearance of unexploded ordnance, at ScottishPower Renewables’ 714MW East Anglia 1 offshore wind farm.
It has also secured a five-year contract for balance of plant maintenance at the 630MW London Array project in the Thames Estuary.
Overall, the company revenue from January to the end of June was up 12% to £260.5m from £232.5m in 2017. Underlying operating profit grew 18% to £24.5m from £20.7m.
