Kaufer Befahrtechnik is set to showcase its new rotor blade access system for wind turbine generators up to 12MW at the WindEnergy Hamburg fair in September.
The new TUV approved system will allow service technicians to perform scheduled maintenance as well as advanced repairs at machines with up to 200-metre hub heights.
Kaufer will commercially release the system dubbed K-BP-4 in spring 2019. The system can be used on most conventional wind turbines worldwide, Kaufer expects.
Technical director Dirk Kaufer said using the system will make it possible to maintain rotor blades with protruded blade tips up to 18 metres away from the tower, which in particular is the case with today’s state of the art pre-bend rotor blades.
