Dutch heavy-lift specialist Boskalis says the outlook for its offshore activities remains positive despite posting a €54.3m decrease in operating results for the first half of the year compared to the first half of 2017.
Boskalis blames the decline on offshore services and has decided to terminate its loss-making low-end transport activities.
The company said there are large contracting projects in the order book and the outlook for the ongoing cable-laying projects in offshore wind is also favourable.
Boskalis chief executive Peter Berdowski said: “In offshore energy we expect to see improved results at the contracting activities as well as at services as a result of the fleet reduction.
“We are also seeing an increase in tender activities in the offshore market for the medium term.”
Meanwhile, Bart Heijermans has been appointed to the Boskalis board of management for a four-year term, taking on responsibility for the offshore energy division from 1 September.
