Florida Power & Light Company has kicked off construction of four more solar plants in the US state with a combined capacity of 298MW.
They are the Interstate facility in St Lucie County, the Miami-Dade plant in Miami-Dade County, the Pioneer Trail solar center in Volusia County and the Sunshine Gateway project in Columbia County.
All four plants, which will have individual capacities of 74.5MW, are scheduled to be up and running by early-2019, FPL said.
FPL president and chief executive officer Eric Silagy said: “FPL is among the cleanest energy providers in the nation not because of governmental mandates or requirements, but because we’ve been committed to making smart investments in clean energy technologies for years.
“And we’ve proven that it’s possible to be both clean and reliable while keeping our customers’ electric bills among the lowest in the nation.”
The company currently has 935MW of solar generation in operation.
