GE Renewable Energy is to supply turbines totalling 270MW for Wind Energy Holding’s Theparak wind farm in central Thailand.
The order consists of 90 3.0-137 machines that will have 156.5-metre hybrid towers, the tallest the company will have installed outside of Europe.
The turbines will be installed in three 90MW stages, with full commercial operation next year.
GE Renewable Energy will also service the project for 15 years once operational.
GE Power will supply the wind turbine’s electric drive train, generators and pitch motors as well as the collector and grid interconnection substation packages.
The packages include HV switchgears, transformers, SCADA controls, telecommunications and power systems studies.
GE onshore wind business president and chief executive Pete McCabe said: “Our 3.0-137 wind turbine with its 156.5-metre tower is ideal for the very specific wind conditions in central Thailand and has the potential to contribute to reaching grid parity for onshore wind in the country.”
