ABB has launched a remote support service for wind farm operators that aims to lower turbine downtime and reduce operations and maintenance costs.
The ABB Ability Condition Monitoring solution collects real-time data from a turbine’s electrical drivetrain and transfers it to a cloud-based system.
The data can then by analysed and used to perform diagnostics on drivetrain components, ABB said.
ABB robotics and motion division segment manager for wind Teijo Kärnä said: “Initially, the new ABB Ability services will be available for turbines that are based on ABB components, with future releases extending coverage to technology from other vendors.”
