Offshore Structures Britain (OSB) has installed the first external platform on a transition piece for Orsted’s 1.2GW Hornsea 1 offshore wind farm, which will be located off the east coast of the UK.
Bladt Industries won the contract to supply 96 transition pieces for the project, with 56 of the structures to be manufactured at OSB’s facility at Haverton Hill near Billingham in Teesside.
The remaining 40 structures will be manufactured at Bladt’s Aalborg facility in Denmark.
Hornsea 1 will feature 174 Siemens 7MW turbines some 120km off Yorkshire and is scheduled to be completed in 2020.
