NKT has signed a preferred bidder agreement to deliver and install export cables at the 950MW Moray East offshore wind farm in the Outer Moray Firth off the east coast of Scotland.
The deal will involve the manufacture of approximately 185km of 220kV AC cable, as well as installation and burial by the NKT Victoria vessel (pictured).
NKT said such a contract would “typically” have a value of between €130m and €170m.
Installation of the cables is expected to start in 2020.
The company said the agreement is conditional upon final negotiation of the EPC contract and the project owner making a final investment decision (FID).
A FID is expected during Autumn 2018.
Moray East is a joint development between EDP Renewables (77%) and Engie (23%).
It was recently awarded a Contract for Difference at £57.50 (€64.50) in the UK’s second auction round.
