EDP Renewables and Engie have lined up MHI Vestas and GeoSea for work on the 950MW Moray 1 offshore wind farm located off northern Scotland.
Supplier documentation provided by the developers lists MHI Vestas V164 9.5MW hardware as the project’s turbines. No further information was provided.
GeoSea, meanwhile, has won an engineering, procurement, construction and installation contract for foundation supply and installation, as well as transport and placement of three offshore substations for the project.
The GeoSea deal is subject to the wind farm reaching financial close, which is expected to take place in the second half of 2018.
GeoSea business unit manager offshore renewables Jan Klaassen said: “Together with Ramboll, GeoSea has designed a jacket foundation concept integrating the challenges of the site, however optimised for fabrication and installation.
“The supply chain of approximately 100 steel jacket foundations and corresponding steel piles will be lined up the coming months.
“(We) will pay high attention to maximise local UK content for the different type of services and suppliers, as far as reasonably possible.”
Moray 1 is a joint development between EDP Renewables (77%) and Engie (23%) and was recently awarded a Contract for Difference at £57.50 in the UK’s second auction round.
