Vattenfall’s wind assets generated underlying operating profit of Skr752m (€78m) in the first nine months of 2017, up 57% from Skr480m in the same period last year.
The profit was boosted by increased generation from new capacity in the period, up to 5.1 terawatt-hours, compared with 3.9TWh in the first three quarters of 2016.
Net sales also increased to over Skr6.1bn this year, from more than Skr4.5bn last year.
However, Vattenfall noted that in the third quarter of the year operating profit from wind decreased as a result of lower availability caused by grid outages and cable issues at some offshore projects.
The problems resulted in the company making an underlying operating loss of Skr300m between July and September this year, compared with a loss of Skr117m in the third quarter of 2016.
Overall, the company’s underlying operating profit was also up in the period at Skr16.0bn, from Skr14.6bn in 2016.
But Vattenfall’s net sales were down 5% in the first nine months of the year at Skr96.8bn, from over Skr101.4bn last year.
Vattenfall president and chief executive Magnus Hall said: “Wind power is a making greater contribution in pace with the commissioning of new wind farms.”
Vattenfall also confirmed its €200m investment to repower the 295MW Wieringermeer onshore wind farm in the Netherlands.
