Alterra Power has acquired the 40MW Jawbone wind farm in California from Jawbone Wind Energy.
The project, which is located in Kern County, is expected to qualify for federal production tax credits at the full rate, Alterra said.
Alterra started construction of the wind farm’s main power transformer in 2016, with first power from the facility expected in 2020.
Jawbone Wind Energy will continue to work with Alterra to complete project development.
Alterra chief executive John Carson said: “We’re extremely pleased to acquire Jawbone, representing one of the few viable opportunities to build new wind generation in California.”
