Winergy will use a gearbox from the world’s first operating offshore wind farm to highlight its range of products and services.
The German company will display the 26-year-old component, which operated “without any failure” from 1991 until decommissioning this year, at the Husum Wind 2017 conference.
“Visitors . . . can assess the gearbox internals and convince themselves of the pristine condition even after 25 years of operating time,” said Winergy.
The company’s service offer includes spare parts, replacement gearboxes, upgrades and maintenance and repair.
Winergy said relying on original suppliers with a full understanding of their products could help to lower the cost of energy.
Vindeby featured 11 Bonus 450kW turbines off Denmark and was taken out of service at the beginning of this year.
