SSE has kicked off full operations at its 172.8MW Clyde 2 wind farm in the southwest of Scotland.
The utility developer took full control of the development (pictured) from contractors at the South Lanarkshire project, which pushes capacity across Clyde to 522.4MW.
“SSE believes it is one of the most efficient large wind farms in Great Britain,” said the company.
Siemens Gamesa provided 54 of its 3.2MW turbines for the project while Balfour Beatty and Jones Bros tackled civil engineering.
SSE owns 65% of the Clyde complex with Greencoat and pension outfit GLIL controlling the remaining 35%. The latter have an option to buy a further 14.9% in 2018.
