Siemens Gamesa has submitted a planning application to locate a 75-metre turbine blade at the entrance to its factory in Hull in the UK.
The blade, which was one of the first to be manufactured at the plant, had been displayed in the centre of Hull from January until March as part of the 2017 City of Culture celebrations.
The blade was then returned to Siemens Gamesa’s Hull site.
Siemens Gamesa said that during the 10 weeks in Queen Victoria Square more than 1.1 million people viewed the structure and over 420,000 people interacted with it.
Siemens Gamesa Hull blade factory director Jason Speedy said: “We considered various locations on our Hull site for the blade and we have chosen this one because it will ensure it is seen by as many people as possible.
“It will be clearly visible to all visitors to the factory, partially visible from the A63/Hedon Road which passes the site, and will be positioned just yards from the public right of way which runs around Alexandra Dock, so people using the footpath will see it up close.”
