Financial close is imminent at Northland Power’s 268.4MW DeBu project in the German North Sea.
The €1.2bn DeBu project, previously known as Deutsche Bucht, will get over the finish line in the near future according to market sources.
MHI Vestas Offshore Wind has been selected as the preferred supplier to supply and install its V164 turbines, boosted to 8.4MW each.
MHI Vestas will also maintain the turbines under a long-term service contract.
Van Oord last summer agreed with former owner Highland Group to execute the Balance of Plant for the project.
This includes the engineering, procurement and construction of the foundations, inter array cables and the offshore substation.
Earlier this year, a consortium of Smulders/ Eiffage, Iemants and CG was awarded a contract to supply the substation for DeBu.
The wind farm is located 95 km northwest of the island of Borkum. It will be connected to the existing 800MW BorWin beta offshore converter station in late 2019.
