EWE Erneuerbare Energien has acquired Hannover onshore wind farm developer TurboWind Energie and its 900MW project pipeline.
TurboWind will remain an independent unit and complement EWE’s activities, the Oldenburg utility said. The purchase price was not disclosed.
“Our sites in Oldenburg and Hannover will remain unchanged, as jobs will in both firms”, said EWE Erneuerbare Energien managing director Jorg Buddenberg.
The acquisition is a part of EWE’s focus on renewable energy, according to EWE executive Wolfgang Muchner.
“Renewables are an important part of our core business. As for the expansion of wind energy, we mainly focus on onshore wind.”
TurboWind serves the entire onshore wind value chain and mainly focuses on projects in Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse. The developer has 34 staff members.
