Enercity and Enercon sign €800m German wind deal

Enercity and Enercon sign €800m German wind deal

Enercity Erneuerbare has entered a strategic partnership with Enercon for the supply, installation and servicing of around 100 onshore wind turbines in Germany, under a deal worth up to €800 million.

The agreement, signed by the two Lower Saxony-based companies, spans two years with an option to extend, and follows a competitive tender launched by Enercity Erneuerbare.

The scope of the contract also includes optional infrastructure services and substation construction.

“Ambitious growth and expansion targets can be realised even more efficiently with strong partners,” said Ralf Nietiet (third from left) and Daniel Müller (left), managing directors of Enercity Erneuerbare, a subsidiary of energy company Enercity.

“With Enercon, we ensure reliable access to high-quality technology within a contractually defined timeframe,” they said.

Enercon regional head for central and northern Europe Benjamin Seifert (second from left) said the German wind market was gaining momentum.

“The transfer of building permits to project implementation is increasing,” he said.

“Successful projects depend on early and agile cooperation. The drafting of this agreement and the first implementation steps have shown a very constructive relationship between our companies.”

More than 30 turbines will be called off this year under the agreement.

Aurélie Alemany, chief executive of Enercity, said the deal would create value not just for the energy transition but also for the North German economy.

“Our partnership is a positive signal for the German wind industry and the regional economy,” she said.

“Wind energy creates added value-especially at our company, production and wind sites.”
