Diamond Transmission Partners has been selected as preferred bidder for the transmission assets at Dong Energy’s 258MW Burbo Bank 2 offshore wind farm in the Irish Sea.
Ofgem chose the consortium of Mitsubishi and HICL Infrastructure as part of Tender Round 4 of the ongoing OFTO process.
The estimated value of the assets is £180.6m. Bids received were “the lowest to date as a proportion of the asset value”, said Ofgem.
Diamond will own and operate the offshore substation and cables and other elements for the next 20 years.
The reserve bidder is Transmission Capital Partners. The wind farm was built by Dong with investment from Kirkbi and PKA.
