German solar manufacturer Recom has acquired French outfit Sillia in a bid to improve its share of the European photovoltaic market.
Recom will now boost production at Sillia’s plant in Lannion to 150MW from 50MW a year and has also announced plans to upgrade the facility by year’s end.
Recom said it will also restructure production in order to facilitate Sillia’s 197MW pipeline, which is scheduled to be delivered in the next eight months.
“The main priority for the next couple of weeks will be for us to achieve a deeper understanding of Sillia’s organizational culture and to match the administrative systems of both companies as to ensure the success of our recent acquisition,” said Recom chief executive Hamlet Tunyan.
