Belgium transmission operator Elia will soon open construction tendering for an offshore switchyard platform for the modular grid hub in the Belgian North Sea following the completion of designs by engineering consultancy Ramboll.
The consultancy designed all structural, mechanical, piping and electrical, instrument and telecom systems.
Optimisation and operation and maintenance studies as well as procurement were also carried out by Ramboll.
The consultancy said it will also assist Elia during the tendering phase.
The hub would create an export route for more than 1GW of offshore wind projects including Rentel, Northwest 2, Mermaid and Seastar.
